Pay attention, get excited, and never quit!

"Pay attention, get excited, and never quit!"

As leaders (and just good people in general), we often want the best for our teams, friends, and family. Unfortunately, we cannot make people see what we see, want what we want, or think like we think. Instead, we have to love them where they are today and let them make decisions for themselves.

With that written, don't let someone else's positon for their life, be your positon for you (unless you want what they have). As a leader, I encourage you to know your "why" in life and go after it with everything you have.

Don't look to motivate people to your cause, but rather find motivated people who want to go in same direction as you. Lock arms with those who support you, encourage you, and run with you until the end.

Do understand that you will find success, disappointment, gains, and losses throughout your journey, but don't let any of those things deter you from your path.

When you face those challenging moments where fear, uncertainty, abandonment, anger, or disappointment rear its ugly head, you look in the mirror, make a decision, and say...

I am a champion! I going to the top...I'm going to achieve my goals...I'm going to be the best me I can be...now, who is going with me?

From that moment on, you just run with the people that want to run with you, even if that means you have to run alone for a while.

Pay attention to your dreams and goals.

Get excited about reaching those new heights and developing into a better you.

Never Quit!

Today is a new day, Champions! Go get what you came for.

Royal Caribbean's Dinner Menu Served Escargot and Roasted Duck

After the rock climbing wall, many of us got cleaned up and dressed for the evening activities. It began with a marvelous dinner.

While I don't recall exactly what I had as an appetizer, I do remember eating some escargot. Can I just share with you that those little land snails were YUMMY! I know, I know...you're thinking, "never in a million years...right?" Trust me, these bad boys were scrumptious. Never say, "Never!"

For my first main course meal, I enjoyed a plate of roasted duck, which was amazing! Yes, it had mouth-watering flavor that was bursting at the seams.

You did say that you wanted to see my meals, too. Didn't you? (Evil grin) I can see some of you are getting hungry right now, huh?

Rock Climbing Over The Atlantic

Getting back on the ship, I went back to the cabin and took a brief nap. All of this excitement definitely wore me out a bit.

When I awoke, my friends and I decided to visit the climbing wall for a few rounds of fun.

The first time up, we just did it freestyle. The second time up, we chose a particular color, which quickly limited the options for scaling the wall. The third time up, we made it even more challenging by removing the option to use any colored peg for our feet. As a result, we had to use ONLY naturally occurring spots in the "rock."

Wow! Let me just say, that LAST time was a doozy (laughing). I almost didn't make it because my forearms were on FIRE. Do you hear me? FIRE!

The last, and I do mean last, stretch almost broke me, but I paused at the top, took a few moments to breathe, and then BAM! I stretched, while using every last ounch of energy and strength to ring the bell. Wow!

I let go in pure exhaustion and just coasted down hands-free. Amazing experience! Maybe one day, I'll do it on a REAL wall somewhere.

A day isn't wasted when a memory is created!

After The Private Beach Comes an All White Party

After a full day on the private island, it was time to get back on the tender, head back to the ship, and then get ready for the evening, which includes rock climbing, dinner, live entertainment, and then an All White Party. Talk about a jam packed night. Wow! Stay tuned.

Riding Jet Skis Around Coco Cay, Bahamas

After lunch, a small group of us decided to get on the jet skis and take a fast-paced tour around Coco Cay. From the moment we left the island, it was all out, full speed, wave jumping fun. We had an opportunity to see thousands of star fish, tour movie locations, conduct serious air time jumps, and just go FAST! I loved that tour.

Once we got back, we were soaked from the adventure, but totally amped about doing it again (laughing). We ended up walking back to a larger group of friends who were taking pictures overlooking the ocean. I joined in and snapped a few shots just to remember the beauty and excitement that this place held.

The Best Time To Create A Habit Is Right Now

Good morning! I'm currently going through the process of creating (or recreating) a habit. To be completely transparent, it isn't the easiest thing to do as it requires my focused attention and the cutting off of something that used to take its place.

As I take the steps to build momentum, I'm just doing the action in the order that I intend to continue once I'm on auto pilot. As a refresher, all habits have a trigger, routine, and reward.

So, what habit do I want to adopt? What happens right before the desired routine (trigger)? What happens after (reward)?

From a high level perspective, just start taking action today. It probably won't be perfectly executed, but once you start don't quit. Then, as you find it gets easier to continue, make small adjustments that fine tune the habit. Eventually, you will be running at full speed and knocking out all kinds of milestones. Remember, don't quit!

Finally, as I look down the road, understand that things will happen that may serve as a road block or speed bump (holidays, vacations, illness, or even a new responsibility), but through it all keep going.

Are you ready to create a new habit? Maybe you just want to establish an old one. Well, right now is that time. Get up and get going. There is no time like the present.

Let's get it!

Taking A Moment to Relax On the Private Beach of Coco Cay

Taking a moment to simply enjoy the private island. The day was a beautiful one. It wasn't too hot, but rather a warm embrace with a slight breeze.

Near the hammocks was the ocean hitting the shore. I could have stayed in this place for hours. Add a cool drink, a future Mrs., and this place would have been complete.

Vacations are for Lovers!

If there is one thing that vacations are good for, beside the simple rest and relaxation, it is the power to strengthen relationships. Think about it, there are very few distractions and a whole lot of "US" time.

Walking near the beach on Coco Cay, I saw this couple simply enjoying each other. I don't know them, but when I saw this picture, I immediately loved the opportunity that they took to be intoxicated by the moment.

Thinking back over the 17 vacations I've taken in the past two years, there were so many picturesque places to enjoy intimate moments. From the beautiful candle-lit dining on the beaches in Mexico to the sunset embrace overlooking the Atlantic ocean, the possibilities for romance, new memories, and a stronger bond between lovers are real.

If I could pass one thing on to couples or even single people who are dating, it would be to take more vacations. Trust me, it will change your life.

For relationship fun, finish this statement... "This could be us, but..."

It's Time to Hit the GO Button!

With two major food-filled holidays and a cruise behind me, it's time to get back into my regularly scheduled routine. It's time!

Reflecting on the break, I lost some of the gains that I fought for, but not anything massive. Thank goodness!

Internally, I'm weighing the benefits of staying the course, which means taking no breaks other than a brief breather at the end of a sprint, or allowing myself to totally recharge (as long as it takes).

Most of my life, I've subscribed to the sprint-total recharge mentality. Unfortunately, this also leads to a loss of momentum, which takes time and effort to recreate. There is also a feeling of jerkyness while I go from one extreme to the other. It has its advantages.

What I would like to do now is to give the other strategy my fullest attention and measure the results. This means, full out action until a specific date, brief breather, and then repeat. Rest periods are minimal, few days at best, followed by another all out sprint.

The key focus of this strategy is keeping momentum through an established daily routine. Once I begin, there is no stopping until I reach (or exceed) the goal. Then, it's rest, reset, and go again.

As I stand on the edge of this new game plan, I imagine it will produce some amazing results in my health, wealth, career, and relationships. I find that I am excited to begin, knowing that it will cost me both time and energy, but the results have to come.

In the next few minutes, I will push the internal GO button, which will reflect a massive all out action externally. The time is now to decide what you want out of life and then go after it like never before. Create momentum and then continue to add fuel to the fire.

It's GO TIME! Let's go get what we came for.

Under the Sun at Coco Cay, Bahamas!

Once we reach the private island (Coco Cay), we gather to take a quick picture. From here, everyone scattered toward their area of interest.

Some went straight to the beach for a relaxing time under the sun. Others took pictures and created memorable videos overlooking the ocean. The rest of us found an excursion or two that we wanted to try.

For those who arrived with me, we landed on the island around 12 noon. By this time, the sun was out and it warmed everything around us. You could hear a live band playing and singing music, it filled air with a mood of celebration.

In the distance, you could smell the barbecue chicken and ribs grilling. Talk about a festive and enjoyable environment.

Merry Christmas!

Minutes before the kids came racing down the stairs, I was able to enjoy a peaceful moment appreciating all of the blessings that God has provided us. We have our health, home, cars, job, great friends, loving family, and time to create valuable memories.

Thank you for helping me grow and develop in 2014, but I am extremely excited to see where we go and the lives we get to pour into over the next year.

What A Casino Game Taught Me About Leadership

The welcome party was a GREAT way to begin our journey toward the Bahamas. We danced, laughed, and just had a great time together...as a team. Wonderful time!

After the event, many of us stopped back off for another meal. There was so much food on that ship, but it was the engaging conversation that made it special.

In between lunch and the comedy show, a group of us stopped off in the casino.

While walking through, we saw a very popular game called "Cash Crane." It's exactly like the one you play in Wal-Mart where you get to win a teddy bear. Instead of a soft cushy toy, people were trying to grab packets of money.

From what I heard, a couple of people already won some cash and were going back for more. The crowd around the machine made it even more interesting, though.

Swipe after swipe, people were trying their luck at the money grab. Some experienced the excitement of grabbing the packet, but later losing it at the last moment.

Onlookers had plenty of advice to the person in the hot seat. "Move it forward" "move it backward" "yep, you got it!" were commands thrown from around the machine. Yet, only a few actually won anything.

As an observation, I found that when people were winning, large groups would gather to see if another lucky person would succeed. Folks lined up for days just to watch, but few played.

Unfortunately, as more people tried and then failed, the numbers began to slowly walk away. That was until someone else won the cash. Then, like a swarm of bees the numbers came back.

This taught me a valuable lesson about people. We like winners and enjoy being around them. Winners give us the confidence to try our hand in the game or least gives us a person to believe in. However, if the time between winnings takes too long, people begin to lose interest and try other things (or support other people).

To the leaders and winners of the world, we know that fast is fun and slow is painful. Yes, we should be persistent and consistent, but doing something once a week is slow when every day is a option. Win fast and often, people will follow your lead. Win slow and people will lose interest.

Hang around winners, stay encouraged, move quickly and with purpose. Just a few thoughts from a game of Cash Crane.

What lessons can you find in this story?

Our 3 Day Bahamas Cruise Is Now Underway

Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas

After breakfast, which turned into lunch, we all went to our cabins and unpacked our bags. Not long after, the entire boat had to conduct an emergency drill in preparation for a real emergency.

With the successful green light, we all went to the top deck and celebrated our Bon Voyage from the Port of Miami. There were dancers, heart-pounding dance music, and a sea of red Team Vision shirts that filled the deck. Oh, what would this ship have been like if it weren't for us 450 fun-loving individuals.

Our 3 day journey is now underway...

Leaving Miami and Heading to the Bahamas

After hanging out on the beach, a few of us from the hotel took a ride to the Port of Miami, which is where all of the cruise ships are located.

You know what this trip reminds me of? It reminds me of a time in high school where we were taking camping trips with all of our friends. Except on this trip, there were no chaperons present. Instead, we're just a bunch of friends who are having a gosh darn great time.

A couple of years ago, I never thought I'd have this kind of fun again. Leaving college felt like I was also leaving behind my youth and a carefree life in exchange for being a grown-up with responsibilities. Taking trips with good people just allows me to be me for a while. I don't have to worry about schedules, bills, ringing phones, or unruly emails. I can just let it all go, relax, and enjoy the relationships I'm building and the world we live in. Good times!

Dealing Hope in Goldsboro, NC

As we continue developing new leaders in the Goldsboro area, today was a full day of pouring into our next generation. I had the opportunity to meet and share my journey with a great group of people.

In this picture, a few of us gather in Starbucks to talk about personal development and casting vision for the future. Talk about an exciting time!

While a lot happened over the past 12 hours, I am most appreciative of the trust, transparency, and vulnerability that was given today. Hearing some of these stories and the desperate need for HOPE really gave purpose to our effort. In this moment, I realize that we have a real opportunity and responsibility to help change lives. I LOVE that.

A Moment of Reflection Overlooking the Atlantic

The next morning, after a good night sleep, we walked back to the beach and just enjoyed the natural beauty of the ocean and soft sand. There was a slight breeze that flowed in off the water and embraced me in her arms.

It was during this moment that I thought about the journey thus far. Yes, there has been some successes, some failures, some wins, and some losses, but through it all there have been rewarding experiences that gave me lessons to live by.

I love where I am at this moment, but I also recognize that there is still so much more work to do, lives to help transform, dreams to chase, and goals to fulfill. This still moment was just a breather...an opportunity to reflect on where I've been and where I still have to go.

What I can tell you is that I am excited about where we're going and passionate about how we're going to get there. It was when I let go of my fear, ego, and simply embraced the thinking that out thinks me that I began to live a blessed life.

To all of my champions, it's time to start LIVING. We get one life, so let's make the most of it. Let's go!

Newbies In Paradise

Let me introduce you to Ms. Julie Hirschy and Mr. Kay Dupri. This was their first time visiting South Beach Miami, riding on a cruise ship, and visiting the Bahamas. It was clearly a trip of firsts for them.

What I enjoyed most about this getaway, outside of the relaxation and sun tan (hey, I needed it), was experiencing this vacation through their eyes. I got so much enjoyment watching their faces light up and beam with excitement. To top it all off, I was able to bring 5 newbies on this trip. Talk about making memories, we did that.

Today, as I reflect on our time together, each one of their lives has been touched. They faced their fears, opened their horizons, and solidified a plethora of new lifelong friendships. That brings me so much fulfillment knowing that I'm helping someone else improve their life in some way. We may never know the ripple effects that come from these types of experiences. Amazing!

"A day isn't wasted if a memory is created." It's time to start living. Let's get it!

Roasted Margarita Chicken from Mango's Tropical Cafe in Miami, Florida

After walking to the beach and then the South Beach strip, we caught up with friends and then sat down at Mango's Tropical Cafe for a bite to eat.

I ordered the Roasted Margarita Chicken, which was a half chicken marinated, roasted and grilled to a golden crispness served with yellow rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. Yummy!

First Night on South Beach Illuminated By Neon Lights

To begin our story, we have to go back to Thursday night when we arrived at South Beach Miami.

After dropping my bags off in the room, Kay, Julie, and I decided to take a walk to the beach, which is right across the street from the hotels. The sun was quickly setting and we were running out of daylight. As the sun disappears, Miami's night life begins to shine with neon lights. In this view, the beach is behind us and we're looking at the various restaurants and bars that line the strip.

It's quite common to see some very expensive cars and even celebrities strolling down the street. Each time I visit, there are a little of both present and accounted for.

Once In Motion, Stay In Motion

Once in motion, stay in motion. Don't stop until you reach your goal.

Have you ever realized how difficult it is to get something started? There are moments where you have to use everything you've got just to create movement.

You know what's worse? It's when we exert all this energy and will power to get things going, but then quit. Whoa, Gina! What happened?

For many of us, this is the story of our life. We start, we stop. We start, we stop. Feels an awful lot like I-40 traffic in the morning.

If we ever hope to build anything of significance, we have to stop riding that yo-yo train. Once you get moving, don't stop until you get what you came for. You paid a price to initiate progress, now keep it going no matter how challenging it gets. Just don't quit!

Just a quick reminder to of my Champions. Let's get it!

Great Leaders Inspire Others Through Action

Great leaders inspire others through action, not words.

What are you doing right now to improve the lives of the people around you? What is your contribution to the world? How are you using your gifts and talents today? What is your purpose...your mission?

Some of you are being extremely selfish right now. You have a gift, talent, or testimony and you refuse to share it. Don't you realize that YOU are destined for more? Yes, I'm speaking to YOU!

You're reading this thinking I'm referring to someone else, but the fact is...it was meant for YOU.

No matter where you are in your life, what you've done, or where you think you're going, you have a responsibility to become your best self by taking action today and then inspiring others to do same.

You think your story doesn't matter, but it does. You think you can't be used, but can.

Right now, make a decision to take massive and positive action to improve you AND your situation. You may not know how, but when the student is ready the teacher will appear.

YOU are destined for greatness, but only YOU can make that so in your life.

Supplements for the Next 12-Week Body Transformation

"What supplements do you take while on the 12-week body transformation?"

That is a question that I get quite often while talking about my weight loss journey. In this post, let me share what I take and why. Ready? Let's go.

I'll start the introduction by moving from left to right (see picture).

BPI Pump-HD

I am not currently taking this product. Initially, I was interested in the product as a pre-workout. I wanted to kick start my energy and get a solid pump. To my surprise, the Elite Physique Vitapak provides a great product that offers a similar benefit.

GNC GenetixHD Elite Physique Vitapak

This 30-day supply contains a multi-vitamin, creatine 289, carb controller, thermogenic, CLA, and muscle recovery/joint support. I take this stack on a daily basis. The multi-vitamin gives you the vitamins you need while cutting out a variety of foods. This is important.

I only take the creatine on days that I'm strength training, but it's used to provide strength performance while in the gym. Lift more, see more results.

The thermogenic I take in the morning before my first cardio session. Essentially, this is a super effective fat burner that offers tons of energy and alertness (think coffee).

The CLA is a fatty acid that promotes fat metabolism, energy, and lean muscle tone.

ON Whey Protein

This is a HUGE container of Whey Protein that I take after a workout. Building muscles requires plenty of protein in your diet.

Modern BCAA

These branch-chain amino acids are really good for helping you keep your lean muscle mass while cutting. BCAA tells your body to find energy from your fat while protecting your muscles. Naturally, your body wants to borrow energy from muscles over fat, especially while we're limiting our intake through a strict meal plan.

GNC Probiotic

Keep your digestive tract clean and healthy by taking probiotics. I was first introduced to this after returning home from Mexico. Think of yogurt and the benefits of bacteria cultures. This helps with digestion. Consider the amount of food we're eating.

L-Carnitine

This supplement helps turn fat into energy, which supports weight loss.

Omega 3, 6, 9

Good fats, especially Omega 3's. Just an all around good supplement that fights and supports so much of your body. Great for weight loss.

L-Glutamine

Great for building muscle, recovery, and the immune system. Most protein powders contain Glutamine and other amino acids.

Final Thoughts

Yes, it looks like a lot of supplements and it's not always cheap acquire, but it does help with the weight loss, muscle growth, recovery, and overall health. Do understand that supplements are not a magic pill. You could take all the supplements in the world and never see the results you want.

The secret lies in the foods you eat and the activity you take. Supplements are simply a way to help facilitate your current activity and reach your goals.

I hope this information has been helpful. Let me know how I can help you further.

Don't Cry To Quit!

"Don't cry to quit! You already in pain, you already hurt! Get a reward from it!" - Eric Thomas

Have you ever been in a situation where you started something and then found yourself wanting to stop somewhere in the middle? You know the feeling, right? Maybe the journey has taken too long, requires too much of your time, has become overwhelming, not seeing the expected results, or you've just lost the spark to persevere.

Often times, when we find ourselves in this situation, we consider how far we've come, but then remind ourselves how much further we have to go. It's a tough place because in many cases, we can't go back and it's too tough to go forward. Our options are to quit, and live a life of regret, or fight through the struggle, and earn the victors crown. What's it going to be?

If you're reading this post, remember this... YOU ARE A CHAMPION!

CHAMPIONS never quit!
CHAMPIONS never give in!
CHAMPIONS don't stop when it hurts, they stop when they're done!
CHAMPIONS pay the price now and live the rest of their lives in victory!
CHAMPIONS know it won't be easy, but it will be worth it!
CHAMPIONS know it ain't about how hard you're hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward!

YOU (yes, I'm talking to you) ARE A CHAMPION!

Take this opportunity to remember your WHY. Why did you get started? What do you really want out of life? What are you willing to do in order to have the life of your dreams?

Take that answer and DECIDE right now to go after your dreams with everything you have. Let each day be another opportunity to fight, claw, and tear toward your dreams. Only YOU have the power to make this happen. Only YOU can realize your goals. Put all of your chips in the game and go for broke. You have ONE shot at life and it's time to make it count.

YOU are a CHAMPION! Now, go get what you came for.
