Considering this page is supposed to give you a glimpse of who I am and a reason for reading, let me take a few moments to give you the basics.

Historical Rundown

My name is Damond L. Nollan, although you probably already know that by now, and I was raised in Tacoma, Washington with my mom, dad, and younger sister. To the best of my knowledge, I had a normal childhood with friends, family, and plenty of games like pine cone wars and street football.

In 1993, I graduated from Lincoln High School and moved to North Carolina where I attended Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). My major was music with a concentration in studio engineering. During my college years, I participated in the marching band, university choir, university players (drama), Sigma Rhomeos, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Spring 1998 #6).

While I should have been in the studio practicing my art, I ended up spending my time developing web pages in the computer lab and running a candy business. They used to call me the Kandyman. What can I say?

After graduating from ECSU in 1999, I secured a job as the university's webmaster. Between 1999 and 2007, I designed and maintained the website (http://www.ecsu.edu) using my knowledge of HTML, CSS, ColdFusion, and JavaScript.

At night, I served as the undergraduate adviser for the Epsilon Alpha chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, chapter Polemarch of Elizabeth City Alumni Chapter, and Scoutmaster of the chapter's Boy Scout Troop. If that wasn't busy enough, I was running a web development firm and working on my MBA from the University of Phoenix.

In 2007, after earning the MBA and years of web development experience, I left ECSU to work on my management skills for North Carolina Central University. It was there that I realized how amazing some of these developers can be. If I can't out code them, let me at least work closely with them.

Working in Durham, North Carolina provided me the opportunity to experience the entrepreneurship and start-up scene. I've been able to enjoy plenty of tweetups and other networking events while meeting some of the most talented people on earth.

By this time, I was actively raising three beautiful children, working on my doctorate in business (DBA), serving as the chapter Polemarch for Smithfield Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, and Middle Eastern Province Board of Director.

As you can see, I keep myself pretty busy. In addition to all of that, I've been a blogger and producer of multiple podcasts ranging from entertainment to technology.

What Is damondnollan.com About?

In early 2000, I started a personal journal site with a couple of friends and family. It became relatively popular and I found that I enjoyed writing online. In 2009, I decided to venture out on my own and start blogging under my name.

Looking back over the past 4 years, I find that I talk about a number of topics. My favorite topics tend to gravitate toward personal development, technology, how-to, movies, television, books, health, fitness, social media, money, food, travel, business, education, parenting, management, leadership, and spirituality. I keep telling myself that I'll specialize in one subject, but until that day comes, I'll just keep writing about stuff that moves me.

How To Interact With Me

I am a big fan of interaction. Feel free to read, respond to posts with your comments or questions, and make recommendations for things you would like see. You can find me on just about every social network out there, so don't hesitate to say "hi" and start a conversation.

If there is anything I can do to help you use this site, please ask. Also, if you like what you read here and want to stay connected, join the mailing list.

Well, that's going to do it for now. See you online!
