Google Maps Provides Real-Time Information on Public Transportation

Google just announced an update to their maps that includes real-time information on public transportation. According to the blog, the update provides both desktop and mobile users in Boston, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Madrid, and Turin with information on arrival and departure times. With this new feature, users can determine if their bus or train is on-time or having issues.

With the expensive price of gas today, I have seriously considered riding public transportation for work. Should the day arrive when I actually get on the bus, this neat enhancement would be quite helpful.

What do you think? Are you a rider of public transportation? If so, do you have a story on how this might serve your needs. Let me know in the comment section below.
