Damond Nollan Returns to Podcasting

Today marks the beginning of a new journey. Wait. I'm not sure I can call it a new journey, as I've been living it all along, but maybe we'll just call it the return to podcasting. For those who have been around awhile, you may remember my last few shows, "Room 3026 Live," "Second Screeners," or "The TechMonks Podcast."

Looking back, I had an amazing time creating memories with an awesome team of personalities, but the time it took to develop new episodes became so much more consuming that I ever imagined. Thankfully, with the advancement of technology, we can do so much more from that little handheld device we often place in our pockets, the mobile phone.

Quietly, I've wanted to return back to what I enjoy most about those shows, which is talking with people, sharing interesting stories, and offering little nuggets of value as they become available to me. Now, with things coming together, I have an opportunity to share a lot of what's not captured through videos, pictures, and short social media updates. Today, podcasts are growing in popularity right along with the quality of audio files and internet speeds.

Another current inspiration of mine is Gary Vaynerchuk, who talks about documenting the journey instead of just creating content. Yes, video has it's place, but audio provides more flexibility. We can listen to audio while working out, commuting, or cleaning the house. We can listen to the message while on the go.

Why Podcasting?

Why podcasting? Well, I have a passion for people and stories. In a recent conversation with a fraternity brother, I found so much value in what was being shared, but only the two of us ever heard it. Through the recording of audio, I can quickly share those unplanned and often unexpected experiences with you.

As I live and go through my days, there is an opportunity to capture the goodness of the moment. I'm excited about capturing and sharing those lessons, messages, and takeaways.

What Will I Talk About?

The vision for this podcast is to talk about a wide variety of things. Off the top of my head, I see the following topics showing up on a regular basis:

  • Health and fitness
  • Relationships
  • Local activities
  • Food reviews
  • Parenting
  • Business
  • Technology
  • Personal development
  • Lifestyle
  • Travel

How Long Will Each Episode Be?

I don't know how long each episode will be, I guess we'll figure that out as we go. I imagine they will be as long as the situation requires. As I look at conversations and interviews, it could run for as long as our conversation takes us, but a morning nugget may only be a few minutes.

Where Will It Be Hosted?

I'm currently using Mixcloud. Why Mixcloud? you ask. First, it's free. Second, it provides a number of benefits for me as I reboot my podcast and better understand what I need or want in a solution provider. Right now, I can upload audio without time restrictions. It has a audio player and provides some basic statistics. Who knows where I will go in the future. For now, this seems to be a great place to start.

How Often Will You Host an Episode?

We'll figure out the schedule as we go, but I would like to do something daily. Audio appears to fit easily into my current schedule, so I imagine daily is more than doable.

Your Feedback

Please know that your feedback is extremely important as it will help me direct the path of this show. Some questions to help you get started. What do you think about my return to podcasting? What topics are most interesting to you? How and when do you currently listen to podcast episodes (assuming you do)?

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
