10:00 am
God has promises for YOU. There are hundred of promises in God's Word. Pastor Matt encourages you to look in his word and find those promises. For example, God listens to our prayers, gives salvation, new life, freedom, forgiveness, Holy Spirit, his presence, spiritual gifts, joy, hope, power, comfort, gives the desire of your hearts, blessings, healing, protection, meeting your needs, deliverance, provisions, Jesus' second coming, heaven, and the list goes on and on.
9:58 am
God cut back the army to just 300 might warriors and they won against an army MUCH larger than theirs. He did this so that the people of Israel would know that it was BECAUSE of God that they won. It doesn't matter who or what is stacked against you, because with God you will win. When God is with you or for you, you will achieve Victory! When we do what is possible, God will do the impossible.
9:53 am
The third word is, "Promise." God told Gideon that he will be with him as he goes to war. God is looking for people who are weak, too. This type of person will lean on God for direction and support. It is BECAUSE of God that we will win. 1+God = a majority
9:52 am
How do you discover your purpose? One step at a time. Stay close to Jesus and he will reveal it to you.
9:49 am
Here is Gideon's revelation. Our God is a God of peace. In order to experience peace, sometimes we have to step up and fight. This may mean fighting for your marriage, family, and beliefs. This doesn't always mean a physical fight, but an internal struggle over what is right and wrong. Fight the Devil.
9:47 am
God told Gideon to go and live his purpose, which was to deliver his people from the enemy. All he could do was step up and live in faith.
9:45 am
The second thing is, "Purpose." Just like Gideon, God has a purpose for YOU.
9:43 am
God was looking for a leader. Gideon made excuses and responds with fear. As long as we respond with fear, we will never reach our potential. God only responds to faith. Until we move from fear to faith, that is when we will experience the power of God in our life.
God does not give us a spirit of fear. He wants us to step up.
9:42 am
Three words to receive Victory in your life. The first of this is "Potential." God doesn't see you for what you are today, he sees you for what you can become. Gideon didn't think he was worthy.
9:38 am
Reading the scripture Judges 6:1-17:
1 The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. 2 Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. 3 Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country. 4 They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. 5 They came up with their livestock and their tents like swarms of locusts. It was impossible to count them or their camels; they invaded the land to ravage it. 6 Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help.
7 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, 8 he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 9 I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. 10 I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”
11 The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12 When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”
13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
14 The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
16 The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
17 Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. 18 Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.”
And the LORD said, “I will wait until you return.”
9:34 am
In today's message, we will talk about "Victory." We will look at Judges 6, where we examine Gideon. Also, don't forget that July 23, we will also kick off our Saturday night services (6pm).
9:33 am
Pastor Matt comes on stage and leads the church in celebrating all those that have served in our armed forces.
